This 1900s mid-terraced house in the heart of Knightsbridge was restored to its original glory.

Overview

9 Brompton Place is the quintessential London home, representing everything we love about this city. Beautiful brick, perfectly proportioned rooms, and a property people fall in love with. As soon as we saw this house, we realised its potential — but could see the need for intervention.

Challenge

Years of long term tenancy and a heavy footfall from tenants had taken their toll on this prime central London property. An overseas investor was our client on the project, requiring us to collaborate remotely - something we are familiar with and have perfected over the years. A key objective of this project was to work within a set budget, which we achieved while delivering a modern look that will appeal to tenants and be durable for the next ten years.

Work

We re-wired the house; installed a new kitchen, bathroom and ensuite; applied a new damp treatment that was suitable for the local conditions and historic materials; installed new windows, coving and fireplaces; restored the staircase;  floated a new floor, rendered every wall and — finally — painted and decorated the entire property to a high finish, including carpets.

Results

The results are a flawless blend of contemporary and period features. From the graphite grey and white quartz kitchen finishes to the subtle lighting touches along the wooden skirting, our design and build services have created a stunning renovation that will serve the central London lettings market well. Brompton Place is now a comfortable family home that embodies the effortless style of central London living.
